The practical answers to help you plan a stay at Bo'a Gardens Rote: getting here, when to come, what to expect.
- How do I get to Rote Island?
- Fly into Kupang (KOE), daily connections via Bali (DPS) and Jakarta (CGK). From Kupang, a fast ferry crosses to Ba'a, Rote's main port, in about two hours. From Ba'a port it's a 90-minute drive to Bo'a. We arrange private transfers, just let us know your arrival time.
- When is the best time to visit?
- May to October is the dry season and our peak. The surf is most consistent during the southern hemisphere winter (May–September). November to April is wetter but quieter, with greener landscapes and excellent value. We're open year-round.
- Is it good for surfers?
- Yes. The Bo'a wave breaks five minutes' walk from the resort, and T-Land at Nemberala is a fifteen-minute drive south. We help with board rentals, surf guides, and boat charters to outer breaks when conditions align.
- Do you welcome families and children?
- Absolutely. Many of our guests are families. Our two private villas, Ume Lelendo and Ume Ode, are well suited for families wanting the space of a home. We can organise gentler reef snorkels, beach picnics and easy walks for younger travellers.
- Is the resort suitable for non-surfers?
- Completely. Roughly half our guests don't surf at all. They come for the quiet, the food, the boat trips, the culture and the calm pace.
- What's included in a stay?
- Daily housekeeping, fresh water, coffee and tea, and access to our restaurant and grounds. Meals, transfers, tours, boat charters and rentals are arranged à la carte.
- Do you offer airport transfers?
- Yes, we arrange private cars from Kupang airport, the ferry terminal at Ba'a, and Bandara D.C. Saudale (the small Rote airport, where flights vary by season). Just share your arrival details.
- Is there WiFi? Phone signal?
- Yes. We have Starlink WiFi across the resort, so speeds are fast and reliable even out here on the edge of the archipelago. Cellular signal is reasonable at the property.
- Do you accept credit cards?
- We prefer cash (Indonesian Rupiah) and bank transfer. ATMs are available in Ba'a town. Some payments can be arranged in advance, please ask.
- What should I pack?
- Light, breathable clothing; reef-safe sunscreen; a wide-brim hat; flip-flops; a light layer for boat trips; basic medication. If you surf, your own board is welcome but we have rentals. Most things can be bought in Ba'a if needed.
